Dr. Talar Parajian – Bilingual Anesthesiologist in Canada
An anesthesiologist with experience in thoracic, vascular and regional anesthesia, Talar Parajian is an anesthesiologist at Humber River Hospital in Toronto. In addition to her anesthesia experience and expertise, Talar Parajian has training in palliative care and medical assistance in dying (MAID) and is a leader in women’s health research.
Dr. Parajian co-authored a chapter on the health policy implications of funding in vitro fertilization pregnancy in Ontario for the 2014 book Case Studies in Canadian Health Policy and Management. She has also delivered oral and poster presentations at annual meetings of the Society of Obstetric Anaesthesia and Perinatology and the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada. Dr. Parajian’s presentation titles include “A snapshot of women’s attitudes and preferences toward labor epidural analgesia and cesarean delivery” and “Risk of preeclampsia in HIV-positive women receiving highly active antiretroviral therapy.”
Early in her career, Talar Parajian spent two years as a project manager and research associate with Pregnancy Related Issues in the Management of Addictions (PRIMA). She traveled throughout Canada, delivering continuing medical education workshops for prenatal providers in Canadian provinces and aboriginal communities and presented a cohort study at PRIMA’s National Conference in 2010.
Complementing her experience, Dr. Parajian earned her MD and master of science in health policy, management, and evaluation at the University of Toronto, where she received the Dr. David Nelson Bell Anaesthesia Student Award and Obstetrics & Gynecology Award. She also holds a bachelor of science in anatomy and cell biology from McGill University. She is fluent in English and Armenian and conversational in French.
